A real life funtoosh, if ever there was one. So many anecdotes from his real life are told – and they read like a story writer creating script for comic scenes.
Like the fact that he had a sign that said ‘Beware of Kishore’ on the door of his Warden Road flat – once HS Rawail came to visit him, and offered his hand for a handshake, and Kishore took his hand and bit it; when Rawail asked him why he did that, Kishore pointed to the sign on the door saying – “Didn’t you read this. . .”.

“Bhakt Prahlad”(1967), originally made in Tamil and other south Indian languages was dubbed in Hindi as well.
The movie was directed by Narayanmurthy for Veerappan and company, Madras. It had S V Ranga Rao, Anjalidevi, Rajendranath, Dhumal, L Vijaylaxmi, Geetanjali, Nirmala etc in it.

For quite some time, I was missing this film, thinking of the film ‘Poonam Ki Raat’, a 1965 film with music by Salil Chaudhry that is already Yippeee’d here on our blog. Careful scrutiny of the list prepared by Khyati Ben, brings me back to this film from 1967 – ‘Poonam Ka Chaand’.

The earliest model of large studios as centers of film production activities, was somewhat immune to the craziness of financial pressures. This is a tried and tested mechanics. Whenever I have tried it, it has always worked like a charm. Maybe one should work on deriving some axiomatic theorem from this experience.
Dig out a film no one has heard about, even yourself. Try and locate some songs of this film. One or more artists associated with the song should be totally unfamiliar and less known. Check out the songs. You will find a song or songs which are so wonderfully attractive, that the mind is dumbfounded – where have these gems been buried, and that so for decades. Just does not settle into some sensible logic.

Thoda Sa Dil Laga Ke Dekh. . .
Film – ‘Musafirkhana’ from 1955, she plays the role Mary, the love interest of Frankie (Johnny Walker). Mary’s mother fancies another match for her daughter, and Frankie is contemplating suicide on that account. As it often happens in films, Mary breaks out into a song, trying to lift up Frankie’s dying spirits.
1958 – she plays the role of Nargis, the bosom friend of Sheela (Nutan), in this confused and comic scenario of mixed identities and true love – ‘Aakhiri Daao’. Funny to note that Nargis is her real name. And casting credit lists her assumed name. Always life is so interesting.

With this post, this series enters the sixties. 😀 😀
No no, I do not mean to say that we are entering the 1960s, we did that long back. In fact this blog itself started with the 1960s – the song “Miley Na Phool To. . .” from the film ‘Anokhi Raat’ is from the 1960s. With this post, we now come upon the 61st episode of this series. The home work assignment given by Katie Ben, has now come a long way in adding more new, I mean, as yet unrepresented films to the blog. This series was initiated on 20th September, 2015, and we are now into the 29th month that this series has been pursued. In the process, we have added 61 more films from the 1960s, to this blog.
