From the above table we can see that, so far, three songs from this movie have been posted on the blog.
Today’s song is the fourth song from this movie to be presented on the blog.
Today’s song is ‘lullaby’ sung by Geeta Dutt. Lyrics are by Sajan Bihari and music is composed by B.N. Bali.
We are all aware of the famous lullaby ‘nanhi kali sone chali’ sung by Geeta Dutt from the movie ‘Sujata-1959’. However, today’s ‘lullaby’ , unlike the ‘Sujaata”(1959) lullaby is a sad lullaby.
I don’t know how many of us take a look on the ‘Top Posts’ section on the blog. This song from the movie ‘Sujata’ maintained the ‘top slot’ in the ‘top posts’ for many years on the blog.
I remember when I was a newcomer on the blog I used to view this section and even now I used to view it regularly. I am sure ‘Nanhi kali sone chali’ must be the most viewed post on the blog so far.
Coming back to today’s song , Let us listen to and enjoy this less known lullaby sung by Geeta Dutt.
Only the audio of this song is available as of now.

Missing Films of 1960s – 69
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
This is a tried and tested mechanics. Whenever I have tried it, it has always worked like a charm. Maybe one should work on deriving some axiomatic theorem from this experience.
Dig out a film no one has heard about, even yourself. Try and locate some songs of this film. One or more artists associated with the song should be totally unfamiliar and less known. Check out the songs. You will find a song or songs which are so wonderfully attractive, that the mind is dumbfounded – where have these gems been buried, and that so for decades. Just does not settle into some sensible logic.
The year is 1967, not too far faded back in memory. The film is ‘Jungle Ki Hoor’ – an absolute unknown entity. I mean, now living in the age of Geet Kosh, we do see the listings, and know – OK, there is a film of that year with this name. But nothing more than that. And the situation does not change much, since no additional information can be sought out for films of such temper.
But then, you lay hands on some songs of this film. As I have been able to locate and acquire – a couple of songs of this film. Apparently just one record of this film has been traced so far in public domain. I know this film is listed in the homework list of missing films of 1960s. So I pull out the songs, listen to them, and am bowled over.
The song presented today is written by Sajan Bihari – a totally unfamiliar name. As I checked the Geet Kosh, I find this name appear only in one more film – ‘Bahut Door’ – an unreleased film from 1940s. Incidentally, the music director for both these films is BN Bali (aka Baldev Nath Bali). So sometimes in the 1940s, these two artists came together and created some songs. And then after almost two decades, they reunite for another film in 1967. As far as BN Bali is concerned, we encounter his name in some more listings, but Sajan Bihari – that’s it.
The film is a costume drama produced under the banner of NJ Productions, Bomby and is directed by SM Sheikh. The cast of actors includes Azaad, Indira, Khurshid, Tuntun, Habeeb, Maqbool, Nazeer Kashmiri, Fazal Khan, V Kishore, B Rupa, Noorjahan, Anand (Mamaji), Indian Charlie, Waliul Khan and Sheikh himself. Geet Kosh lists six songs for this film, with two songwriters identified – Madan and Sajan Bihari. Madan is not so much of an unknown entity now. Very active in the decade of 1960s and 1970s, he has almost a hundred songs to his credit listed in the Geet Kosh. And we have seven of his songs already showcased on our blog.
Sajan Bihari, on the other hand, is a mystery. Only three songs listed in the entire Geet Kosh, and the first one to find its place on our blog. I would request the more knowledgeable readers and friends to please add more information about this lyricist. And about this film also, if possible.
The singing voice is Krishna Kalle. A very beautifully rendered song, I am sure you will love it on first hear, as I did. Enjoy.
Song – Aaj Khushi Ka Jaam Le (Jungle Ki Hoor) (1967) Singer – Krishna Kalle, Lyrics – Sajan Bihari, MD – BN Bali
Lyrics

pyaar ka daaman thaam le
teri nigaahen
dhokha naa khaayen
jazbaaye dil se kaam le
aaj khushi ka jaam le
pyaar ka daaman thaam le
teri nigaahen
dhokha naa khaayen
jazbaaye dil se kaam le

‘Sholay-1975’ was telecast on a ‘movie channel’ as many as three times between the second and fourth week of March this year. On the first occasion (12th March) I had gone to my Uncle’s place and I watched it there.
(And from there I also sent message on the ‘whattsapp group’ so the ‘Sholay fans’ in the group could watch it 🙂 )
