Today’s devotional song is from the 1975 movie i.e. a movie which has completed fifty years of existence in Hindi Film History. This movie is ‘Bhakti Mein Bhagwaan’. Regulars of the blog are aware that this year we will be adding the missing movies of the year 1975 which are not yet represented on the blog.
1975 was a memorable year for the Hindi film industry. It is remembered for some milestone movies of Hindi cinema like ‘Sholay’, ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’, ‘Deewaar’ etc. Movies like ‘Geet Gaataa Chal’, ‘Julie’, ‘Mausam’, ‘Chhotisi Baat’, ‘Rafoo Chakkar’, ‘Sanyaasi’, and ‘Pratigyaa’ were the other top successful movies of that year.
This movie ‘Bhakti Mein Bhagwaan-1975’ was directed by H. Krishnamurthy for ‘Venkatpathy Picutres. It was produced by S.V. Rajagopal. This movie was originally made in Kannada as ‘Bhakta Kumbhara-1974’ where the lead actor was Dr Rajkumar.

Its star cast included Rakesh Pandey, Nazneen, Madhu Malini, Iftekhar, Raza Murad, Suresh, Abhi Bhattacharya, Leela Mishra, Tun Tun, Mushtaq Merchant, Romeo, Rajrani, Vishva Mehra, Madhumati, Seema Kapoor, Sujata, Poonam, Uma Dutt, Devender and others. Today we add one more movie from the year 1975 which was so far missing on this blog. The title of the movie will give an idea of how times changed in the decade of the seventies, and the kind of movies that were being made. The movie seems to be an obscure movie of its time, and I could not find any video of the movie or its songs on the internet. This movie is ‘Playboy -1975’ alias ‘Rangeelaa Mastaanaa’. It was directed by T. Janakiram for ‘Mahes Movie International, Madras’. It had Roopesh Kumar, Rutu Kamal, Mohan Choti, Fariyal, Hiralal, H. Alam (new discovery), Pandeji, Udaylakshami, Hameed, Sheron, Yushiko, Indira and others.

When I started writing the article on the film, ‘Mrigtrishna’ (1975, I found it be very long (3500+words). So, I felt better to convert it into two separate articles. ‘Mrigtrishna’ (1975) was produced by Jagdish Naheta and was directed by Rajendra Nath Shukla. The cast included Yogita Bali, Rakesh Pandey, Manisha, Jalal Agha, Shahi Agha (debutant), Darshan Arora, Tom Alter, Deena Pathak etc. Hema Malini made a guest appearance as a classical dancer in the film and Sona made her special appearance as a tamaasha dancer. The film was certified by Censor Board sometime in 1975 and was premiered in a film festival in the same year. However, the film got limited theatrical release only sometime in 1979.

Continuing my series, I come to the 14th song – “Reshma Mera Naam Hai” sung by the ever versatile Asha Bhosle. This song is penned and composed by Ravindra Jain for the movie Toofan released in 1975.
It was directed by Kedar Kapoor for ‘Sargam Pictures (Pvt.) Ltd., Bombay’. The movie had Vikram Makandar, Priyadarshini, Roopesh Kumar, Jagdeep, B.M. Today’s song is from “Salaakhen-1975”. It was directed by A. Salaam for ‘Eagle Films, Bombay’.
It was produced by Parvesh Mehra.
The movie starred Shashi Kapoor, Sulakshana Pandit, Ramesh Deo, Amrish Puri, Sudhir, Sajjan, Tarun Ghosh, Anjana, Brahm Bharadwaj, M. Rajan, Mac Mohan, Birbal, Master Ratan, Master Chikoo, Jairaj, V. Gopal, Keshto Mukherjee and others.
Mehmood and Shammi Kapoor had special appearances in this movie.

Today 25th May 2025 is the twenty-seventh Remembrance Anniversary of composer Laxmikant Kudalkar (03.11.1937-2505.1998) of the Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo. He passed away at the age of sixty years. As a tribute to him we will have a song composed by them fifty years ago i.e. from 1975.
