There have been several movies titled “Zindagi”. This blog has so far discussed songs from “Zindagi” (1940), “Zindagi” (1956) and “Zindagi” (1964).
Here is a song from “Zingadi” (1976). This song is sung by Lata and Kishore Kumar and it is picturised on Mausami Chatterji and Vinod Mehra.

“Naach Utthe Sansaar” (1976), easily confused with “Naach Uthha Sansaar” (1978) was a Regal Theatres Production. It was produced by Mahmood Sarosh and directed by Yakub Hasan Rizvi. The movie had Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Simmi, Aruna Irani, Rajendranath, Leela Mishra, Ramayan Tiwari, Bhushan Tiwari, Chandrima Bhaduri, V.Gopal, Sheikh, Roopesh Kumar, Rajan Haksar, Jankidas etc in it.

The 1976 film ‘Aarambh’ may not be a very well known film, but it does carry a unique distinction. It remains the only Hindi film for which the music has been scored by the famous Anand Shankar.

Here is another solo of Rafi Sahab from the film “Laila Majnu” (1976). This is a ghazal picturized as a doli song with Majnu following Laila’s doli in the desert and singing this song , imploring Laila to take with her, the prayers of the one who has been left desolate in her love. This is among the last few compositions of Madan Mohan. Lyricist is Saahir Ludhianvi. Master of ghazals as Madan Mohan is known as, this is a brilliant creation of all three legends. A teetotaler simpleton, a cynical intellectual and a broken genuis alcoholic. A strange combination if there were any.

In Hindi movies, we have examples of movie makers who would ensure that their movie titles began with some particular letters of the alphabet. Thus J Omprakash’s movies will always begin with “A”, and in case of Arjun Hingorani movies, the title would be of three words, each beginning with K. Then there were movie makers who regarded certain words as lucky for them. For instance Sawan Kumar fancied the word “Sautan” in his movies while producer Girsh Jain regarded the word “Khiladi” as his lucky word in his movie titles.
