This song was a popular song during its time. When I listened to it, I thought that R D Burman was the music director. It was only much later that I realised that the music director was not R D Burman , but a newcomer called Bappi Lahiri. Yes, Bappi Lahiri was creating great impression in the minds of music lovers. He had created some nice music in “Zakhmee” (1975), his debut music and then in “Chalte Chalte” (1976).

The most credit for a Bollywood movie song goes ( or should go) to the music director. It is he who gets the lyricist to write the song, decides on the orchestra and tells the singer (s) how to sing the song.

While looking for forgotten gems, look what I have discovered. This Rafi song is from a forgotten movie called “Do Khilaadi” (1976). Gauhar Kanupri is the lyricist and Usha Khanna has composed the music.
