“Sunayna” (1979) was a Rajshree Productions movie. It was produced by Tarachand Barjatya and directed by Hiren Nag. The story of the movie was inspired from Charlie Chaplin’s “City lights” (1931). I must say that I quite loved watching the movie in a then newly built mini sized movie hall in Ranchi in 1979. One of the lasting impressions of this movie in my mind include the extremely hummable title song viz. Sunayna sunayna..aaj in nazaaron ko tum dekho aur main trumhe dekhte huye dekhoon. The other lasting impression was Jagdeep playing a fellow jailbird of Naseeruddin Shah who tries to help Naseeruddin Shah escape out of jail.
