“Adharm” (1992) was a movie that was produced by Nitin Manmohan & directed By Aziz Sajawal. The songs were written by Sameer (son of yesteryear lyricist Anjaan) & composed by Anand- Milind (sons of yesteryear composer Chitragupt). Shatrughan Sinha, Shabana Azmi, Sanjay Dutt, Anita Raj formed the main protagonists with Kiran Kumar, Paresh Rawal & Gulshan Grover being on the opposite side of the law. Shakti Kapoor played an adorable chacha to Sanjay Dutt & Anita Raj. Vikram Gokhale, Asrani, Rakesh Pandey, Aroon Bakshi, Tej Sapru, Avtar Gill, Mac Mohan etc forming the rest of the supporting cast.

‘Apna Apna Aasmaan’ (TV Serial, 1992) was telecast on Doordarshan’s National Channel from December 1992. The main cast of the TV Serial included Girish Karnad, Beena, Shreeram Lagoo, Viplav Malhotra, Lalit Parimoo, Parveen Pandey, Dinesh Khanna, Hemant Mishra, Nandlal Sharma, Usha Suhail, Priya Wadhwa, Rekha Babbal, B Sushma, Kishori Ballal etc. The 13-episode serial was based on a Telugu novel, ‘Kausalya’ by Polapragada Satyanarayana Murthy, with some more characters added in the screenplay to make it a family drama. The TV Serial was produced and directed by Kailash Tuli.

The screen turns to a dark, cloudy sky. There is thunder and lightning. A shimmering disk appears against this backdrop, accompanied by music that has certain magical quality about it. As the background score gently works its way to a crescendo, finishing with a flourish of cymbals, a Greek column-like pedestal, bearing the ‘NH Films’ insignia appears against a smoke-filled screen. Almost instantly a booming voice recites a couplet, with a soft but distinct drum roll accompanying the oration. The couplet goes:
Kya ishq ne samjha hai, kya husn ne jaana hai
Hum khaaq-nasheenon ki thokar mein zamaana hai
The voiceover ends with an emphatic drumbeat. The credits follow led by the opening credit, NASIR HUSAIN FILMS Presents…..

Hullo Atuldom
It is winter and the temperatures in Bangalore and adjoining regions have taken a dip. I am sure North India will be much colder, I don’t know what is the experience of those in western and eastern India. But then, winter is the feature for the entire Northern hemisphere at this time of the year.
We have categories on the blog, that songs are tagged under. The Category “Rain” and “Saawan” have around 86 and 109 posts/ songs respectively. “Saawan” is used to talk of rains and is also the month in the Hindu calendar, when the Indian sub-continent experiences heavy monsoon rains.

Rishi Kapoor’s life journey through his histrionics in tinsel town, starting with his father’s epic “Mera naam joker”, to the chocolate boy in ‘Bobby’ to the authentic Majnoo in “Laila Majnu” to the slick tycoon in “ Yeh Wada raha”, via the semi-villain in ‘Hum kisi se kam nahi”, with a heart of gold, no less. The hapless husband of ‘‘Damini” , the sacrificing lover boy of ‘Chaandni”, mark the fulfilling journey and career of a shining star with the a extra twinkle in the eyes. “Mangni”(1992) is a movie of recent vintage by the standards of this blog, but this movie has ended up becoming totally obscure. I do not seem to have heard of this movie during the time it was released. The movie must have flopped spectacularly. Search on internet throws up some sketchy details about this movie. The movie was directed by B R Ishara (production house is not known). The movie had Pallavi Joshi, Sahil, Raja Bundela, Satyan Kappu, Tiku Talsania, Shammi Kapoor, Mukesh Khanna, Raman Trikha etc in it.
