“Karz” of 1980 was a musical blockbuster. Though many fans were not aware about it, but most tunes in that movie were lifted from western tunes, including the most popular ” meri umar ke nauzawaanon”. I have posted different kind of songs in this blog. There is one big category of songs which are sung atop some mode of transportation viz car, train, boat etc. I have noticed that Jeetendra, the jumping jack takes the cake when it comes to singing songs atop different modes of transportation. In addition to the usual modes of man made transportations, he has sung song atop less obvious modes of transportation too. For instance, there was one Jeetendra song sung atop an elephant. I am sure he must have sung songs riding a horse also. He may have missed singing while riding buffalo and donkey though.

Kati Patang was a musical blockbuster, in addition to being a box office hit. All its songs went on to become popular and some of them are counted as evergreen hits.

Prem Chopra and Bindu were the villain and the vamp in this movie. Prem Chopra had a memorable dialogue in this movie- “Prem naam hai mera, Prem Chopra”. Bindu had an entire cabaret song for herself where she declares- “Mera naam hai Shabnam, pyar se log mujhe Shabbo kahte hain”.

In 1970s, Rajesh Khanna was the reigning male superstar whereas Hema Malini was the dream girl. But the two hardly paired with each other. Rajesh Khanna was mainly paired with Mumtaz and Sharmila Tagore, whereas the pairing of Dharmendra and Hema Malini was taken for granted those days.

This song is also known as “dhal gaya din THUK ho gayi shaam THUK jaane do THUK jaana hai THUK“.
The lyricist Anand Bakshi had not included the word THUK in the lyrics. This additional word is there in the song thanks to the picturisation, where the heroine Leena Chandawarkar plays badminton with Jeetendra and the sound THUK is generated as the wooden racket hits the shuttlecock.

It is one of the readers of this blog, who sent his farmaish for this song, and I was like ” which is this song? I am not even aware of the name of the movie, let alone this song.”
