The saga of Hindi films will never be complete without the discussion of the “formula” that used to be, and continues to be, followed by the production banners. I often get confused between the two similarly named movies of 1960s, viz “Shikaar” and “Shikaari”. The confusion is compounded by the fact that both movies had similar storylines, where the hero would go to a jungle for “shikaar” where he would enounter tribals wearing Red Indian/ African kinds of heargears etc and the daughter of the chief would be the chief female dancer among the tribal dance troupe that would sing and dance at the drop of a spear.

Recently , while discussing a mujra song composed by R D Burman, I made this observation that R D Burman had composed very few songs of this genre.

Now I have been given a list of lots and lots of mujra songs compositions of R D Burman by Prakashchandra. In fact he sent me the lyrics of a mujra song from the debut movie of R D Burman. Now I am suitably humbled by all this information which was not known to me.
