(Six of these films are already represented in this blog. ‘Naach Ghar’ is one film that is awaiting entry here). Today (14th february), otherwise known as Valentine’s day, is also the birthday of Jaan Nisaar Akhtar. Jaan Nisaar Akhtar’s name suggests that he may be a shayar who mostly wrote songs on the themes of husn o ishq.
Jaan Nisaar Akhtar could in fact write light hearted songs as well. Here is a fun timepass song from “Rickshawaala” (1960). This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Geeta Dutt. N Datta is the music director.

When it comes to Hindi movie music, for instance, what kind of music does one expect when Bharat Vyas is the lyricist and S N Triptahi is the music director ? We expect songs that are either bhajans or semi classical songs.

Starcast of the movie included big names like Ashok Kumar, Nalini Jaiwant, Pran, Durga Khote, Ramayan Tiwari, Cuckoo etc.
