“Nai Imaarat”(1981) though a recent movie by the standards of this blog is an obscure movie. Even I have not heard of this movie though I was into watching Hindi movies with a vengeance at that time.

Legendary singer Mukesh was born in Delhi, on July 22, 1923 in a middle class family consisting of 10 children. Mukesh was the sixth of the siblings. The lure of films always appealed to Mukesh and as such he was less interested in studies. After his matriculation in a municipal school he was able to get a job of assistant surveyor in Delhi’s department of public works through his father. However, after just seven months of service, Mukesh ran away to Mumbai to become another KL Saigal whose adherent fan he had been all along. Even in school, Mukesh was known as “junior saigal” and the lunch breaks often involved the young Mukesh rendering his favourite Saigal numbers to his peers amongst whom Roshan Lal would be one on the harmonium.

Chandni Raaten : Song No. 4
———————————

chaand aahen bharegaa phool dil thhaam lenge
husn ki baat chali to sab teraa naam lenge

chand phir nikla magar tum na aaye
jalaa phir mera dil karoon kya main haaye

dheere dheere chal chaand gagan mein
kahin dhal na jaaye raat toot na jaayen sapne
arey dheere dheere chal chaand gagan mein

khoya khoya chaand khula aasmaan
aankhon mein saari raat jaayegi
ham ko bhi kaise need aayegi ho oo

When I woke up early morning and started the computer, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the google doodle on google.co.in contained Kishore Kumar’s sketch in it. So if google can remember 4 august as the birth anniversary of Kishore Kumar, then this blog cannot be left behind, of course.

I fondly remember my radio playing this song during the afternoons of my summer vacations (in our old rented house, and in the morning Radio farmaish programmes and during the late night, 11`clock Mumbai Vividh bharati programme “Bela ke phool”. This song belongs to my growing years; therefore I do have many fond memories of this song . Though it was not that badly picturised, the listening pleasure is more than that of watching it. If one hears this duet, in my personal opinion, it does have soothing effect on listeners.

In the earlier post today, I had mentioned about the somewhat not-so-well-organized collection that is sitting on my hard drives. There is so much that I still have to explore myself. Even I myself am not fully aware of all the items that are sitting in there. It is an unsavory situation, in case I have to search for something and I do not know whether I will find it there. At other times, it is also a lot of fun, to be able to locate and bring out items that I remember or that other friends have requested for. (Please do not think I am trying to impress that my collection is exhaustive. It is not. 😉 )
