We are adding the missing movies of 1972 on the blog. Obviously, these are the movies which are itself obscure type or which remain lesser-known movies. I think the today’s movie is one such movie. Because I do not remember to have heard about it earlier or read about it or ever listen to its songs earlier.
Today’s movie is ‘Naag Panchami’. We already have one movie titled as ‘Naag Panchami’ from the year 1953 on the blog.

Songs to Tickle Your Memory – 23

‘Aankhen’ was released in 1950. Most people remember it for being the debut film of music director Madan Mohan. Amongst all the wonderful songs that caught the attention of the listeners, there is this lovely melody in the voice of Meena Kapoor, that really steals away your heart – “Mori Atariya Pe Kaaga Bole, Mora Jiya Doley, Koi Aa Rahaa Hai”. For me, it is this one song that makes this film and its music memorable. This is one of the two songs that Bharat Vyas wrote for this film.

“Saarangaa” (1960) is a B grade movie starring Sudesh Kumar and Jayshree Gadkar. According to my axiom, a B grade movie must have A grade music. and this movie fully lives up to this axiom. This movie is full of outstanding songs.

The experiences of listening to songs sung by different singers are different. When one listens to a song sung by Mukesh, one expects a song that one would begin to hum as soon as one listens to it. One also expects the fabled Midas touch of Mukesh in full flow which ensured that most songs sung by Mukesh became popular.
