The cast of this movie had Amarnath, Nazi, Shaikh, Shakeela Bano Bhopali, Jani Babu Qawwal, George, Nemo, Meena, Darshan, Om Mota, Haroon, Daleep, Badshah, Gulab, Bahadur (the dog), Jeevankala, Rammohan, Master Sohan, Majnoo, Rajan Haksar, and others.
This movie has six songs written by Gulzar (as Gulzar Deenvi (one song), Naqsh Lyallpuri (one song), Farooq Kaiser (one song), Sajan Bihar and Aziz Ghazi. Lyricist’s name for one song is not known. Regulars on the blog are aware that I am very fond of Qawwaalees from our Hindi films and I have been presenting them whenever I find an opportunity to do so. Also I try to bring Qawwaalee songs here that are lesser heard or never heard songs, whenever I came across such songs.

“Harishchandra Taramati-1963” was directed by B.K. Adarsh for ‘Adarshlok, Bombay’. It was a movie of mythological genre. It had Prithviraj Kapoor, Jaimala, B.M. Vyas, Tiwari, P. Kailash, Naazi, Helen, Ulhas, Babu Raje, Nasreen, Saraswati, child artiste Babloo and others. Story of this movie was written by Pandit Madhur and Vishwanath Pandey and screenplay was written by Naval Mathur. Dialogue writing was by Adarsh himself. The editing of this movie was done by I.M. Kunnu. Geet Kosh mentions eight songs for this movie (including one three part song). As mentioned above Kavi Pradeep wrote all songs for this movie. Music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. “Harishchandra Taramati-1963” is the only movie where lyricist Kavi Pradeep and composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal came together and collaborated musically.
