“Zehreela Insaan”(1974), Rishi Kapoor’s second release flopped badly at the box-office. Prakashchandra, a dedicated contributor to this blog, has commented on it here. This film was also the first one to have Rishi-Neetu pairing. Rishi Kapoor has two heroines to romance in this film. The first is Moushumi Chatterjee, whose father marries her off to somebody else. His sadness at the loss is short, he meets another girl at his college with whom he falls in love with. The song yeh silsila pyaar se chalaa marks the beginning of this tempestuous love story.

We are having exactly 400 songs composed by S D Burman, 647 of Majrooh and 2210 songs by Lata Mangeshkar in the blog. I am wondering exactly how many of these songs composed by S D Burman are written by Majrooh and sung by Lata. If such an information about all songs of S D Burman or Lata or Majrooh was available in one place in the excel sheet format, than it would be so easy to access that figure.

In my last post on the song from “Zehreela Insaan” (1974), I gave a short synopsis of the movie. This song, filmed on Rishi Kapoor and Moushumi Chatterjee, shows them in happier times. Since they are playing college students here, they have most probably bunked classes to meet and sing a song. This seems to be a popular haunt with the main protagonist of the film. Three songs of the film are shot here.

It seems like “Saveray Wali Gaadi”(1986) makes a debut on this blog with this song. This reflects the fact that the film is hardly remembered now. The reason behind that is that the movie was not highly successful. Thus also sank the beautiful soundtrack of the movie. The songs are not vintage Pancham-stuff but they are very hummable and much better than what his stable would churn out in the later part of the 80s.

“Zehreela Insaan” (1974) was Rishi Kapoor’s second movie after his debut as a lead actor in “Bobby” (1973). He took a major risk going from his chocolate hero in “Bobby” to a hero with dark shades in “Zehreela Insaan”. The box-office, unfortunately, didn’t think highly of this commendable act. The film flopped and from then on he hardly ventured into this territory again.
