1959 was the busiest year in the career of music director N Dutta. That year, seven films with music composed by him, were released. (Six of these films are already represented in this blog. ‘Naach Ghar’ is one film that is awaiting entry here). And the music of these films is notable and still remembered – films like ‘Black Cat’, ‘Dhool Ka Phool’, ‘Didi’, ‘Bhai Bahen’, ‘Mr. John’, and ‘Jaalsaaz’.

There have been three movies with the title “Do Bhai”. “Do Bhai” (1961) is the most obscure of the three, even though it is a recent movie as compared to the “Do Bhai” (1947). The other movie of this title was released in 1969.

Most Hindi movies deal with safe topics because dealing with “unsafe” topics are fraught with dangers. and when one’s own career may be at stake then obviously few movie makers can be expected to venture into potentially risky topics.

“Holiday in Bombay” (1963) is a movie which is barely known to most Hindi movie enthusiasts today. Same is the case for the music of this movie. But when one begins to look at the songs of this movie, one is left amazed. How can a movie full of such songs be so obscure. This movie should be known among music lovers at least for its songs if for nothing else.
