Farmaish for this song was given by Sid and Raja very promptly provided me with the lyrics of this song, telling me that this song is one of his all time favourites. Thanks to the lyrics provided by him, the time needed for getting the lyrics right (which is the major job for me while posting any song) was saved, and here is this qawwali.

In western cultures, only one day in the spring season , called Valentine’s day is dedicated for love. In Indian culture , on the other hand, an entire season, viz the rainy season is the season of love. It did not begin with the advent of Bollywood movies. Even in ancient Sanskrit novels, for instance in Kalidas’ “meghdoot”, we find the rainy season described as the season when there is love in the air.

Here is a teasing song that is a beach song as well where boys (Dev Anand, Johny Walker) and girls (Vyjyanti Mala etc) are assembled at a beach. Johny Walker gives able company to the hero, as do other extras.

It has been pointed out by my readers that the song “Ramaiyya vasta vaiyya” from “Shree 420” (1955) is missing from the blog. Not just this song, I am sure many great gems of yesteryears are missing from the blog. But I will gradually add all these songs. The fact that so many great songs are still missing from this blog despite the blog boasting of over 2600 songs is an indication that there are far too many great songs that were created during the golden era of Bollywood movie music.

“Banarasi Thug” (1962) was a B grade movie with Manoj Kumar and Vijaya Chaudhary in lead roles. The movie was B grade, but there were so many underemployed talented music directors those days that movie makers had no trouble getting A grade music composed even in B and C grade movies.
