Readers may have noticed that very few posts were appearing in the blog for the last several days. That tends to happen during festival seasons/ holidays when I am unable to find much time to devote to blogging. As a result, backlog of blogging work piles up. In addition, I have been unable to discuss several topics that I have been wanting to discuss for quite some time.

“Kaajal”(1965) was directed by Ram Maheshwari for Kalpanalok. The movie had Raj Kumar, Meena Kumari, Dharmendra, Padmini, Mumtaz, Satish Kumar, Jagirdar, Mehmood, Durga Khote, Tiwari, Helen, Madhu Apte etc in it.

In this blog I dream of the day when we will cover so many songs that our readers will struggle to give me the farmaish for undiscussed songs.:) Considering the number of songs that are not yet discussed in the blog, that day is far off. But there are very few cases where we have reached that stage already. For instance, we have covered all the available Hindi film/ non film songs of K L Saigal and there are no K L Saigal left to be covered. Similar is the case more or less for the songs of Sajjad Hussain too.

We (or at least I) believe that most Hindi songs are picturised unrealistically and they bear little resemblence to real life situations. However, every now and then we come across songs that are picturised so nicely and realistically that they warm the cockles of our heart.

The movie had Raaj Kumar, Mala Sinha, Ashok Kumar, Tanuja, Sailesh Kumar, Anwar Hussain, Biswajeet, Bhanumati, Asit Sen, Sulochana Latkar, Mahendra, Chaman Puri, Aruna Rai, Jyotilaxmi, Pahadi Sanyal, Pratima Devi etc in it.

“Mother India” (1957) was a movie that was released before I was born. So this movie is from an era before my time. I first watched this movie in late 1970s in its nth re run in a dilapidated movie hall. Moreover I was not much into old movies in those days and I went to watch this movie so that I may be able to say that I had seen this movie. 🙂
