Today 12th January’2023 is the one hundred and fifth birth anniversary of one of the greatest music directors of Hindi Cinema C. Ramchandra.
He was born on 12th January’1918 and passed away on 5th January’1982.
On this occasion as a tribute to him I am presenting a song from the ‘1955’ movie ‘Luteraa’.

Today’s song is a comedy duet from the film Jhamela-1953.
The song is sung by Chitalkar and Sunder Singh – the comedian. Many of you would be surprised if I tell you that in the beginning of his career, Sunder-the well known comedian was a Hero in many films. Not only this, but also that he was a good singer and he has sung as many as 40 songs in as many as 25 films !

Hullo Atuldom
“Pyaar Hi Pyaar” – release date 17th October 1969- was directed by Bhappie Sonie and produced by Rajaram & Satish Wagle. It had music by Shankar-Jaikishan & Hasrat Jaipuri wrote most of the songs. Rajinder Krishan is credited with one song. The movie had a cast of Vyjayanthimala, Dharmendra, Manmohan, Mehmood, Helen, Dhumal, Madan Puri, D.K. Sapru, Sulochana -Latkar & Chatterjee, Raj Mehra AND PRAN. Plus there were some character artists who are familiar faces to all Hindi movie fans- like the rotund Moolchand, Robert (the Goan dancer who was a prominent face in dance numbers till 1989), even Shatrughan Sinha and Salim Khan (who later formed a duo with Javed Akhtar) were there in small roles.

I had come across today’s song couple of months back when I heard it on radio and again it got played on radio recently. The song is a distinct composition of a regular music director and music lovers can easily guess the name of the music director if they listen to the song. It was a film production company floated by C.Ramchandra, his close friend actor Omprakash and Lata Mangeshkar. They produced Jhanjhar-1953, Leharen-1953 and Duniya gol hai-1955 ( directed by Omprakash himself.) These films were neither successful nor their music became popular.
