Though Kishore Kumar had made his singing debut in “Ziddi”(1948) three years ago under the music direction of Khemchand Prakash, it was in 1950s that he was taken by S D Burman under his wings. It was then that Kishore Kumar developed his unique singing style.

The songs of “Hamraaz” (1968) were all over the place in 1968. This movie was Mahendra Kapoor’s finest hour under the sun as a playback singer.

One fine day in 1970s, I went to watch an old movie called “Kaajal”. I did not expect much from the movie, considering that it had Raj Kumar and Meena Kumari in it- and they were at their tragic “best” those days.
