This song was written by Shakeel Badayuni and music was created by Ravi. Shakeel Badayuni was a lyricist who usually worked only for Naushad. When he was signed up to work for this movie, he came up to Ravi, grabbed Ravi’s hand and told him “I have never worked with an outside production. I am nervous, please cover up for my deficiencies”. Such humility ! This lyrics must go down as one of the greatest lyrics written in Bollywood movie history.

“Do Badan” was a movie full of some wonderful songs written by Shakeel Badayuni and composed by Ravi. The song “jab chali thandi hawa” sung by Asha Bhonsle and picturised on Asha Parekh was a sweet and melodious song to listen to.

Every household compulsorily had the pictures of national leaders on their drawing room walls. Framed photographs of Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Prasad, and Jawaharlal Nehru were there in all households.

This song is one of the earliest hits of Rafi. It came about in 1949 in a movie called Dulari and it went a long way in establishing Rafi as the most sought after male playback singer for the next two decades. This song was such a refreshing change from the usual songs of that era which used to be songs influenced by K L Sahgal’s singing style. Rafi’s singing in this song set the tone for the modern way of singing playback songs in Bollywood which continues to be followed to this date.
