Title of this post suggests that the song with this post is a ‘Qawwali’ song. It is not a popular or block-buster qawwali, but a lesser known and lesser heard song which you can sometimes get to listen to on Vividh Bharati (AIR). This song is from the ‘1978’ movie ‘Daada’. It was mentioned by me earlier while presenting another song from this movie that I have vague memories of watching this movie with my parents and younger brothers. I didn’t remember this movie much except for a few of its songs.

Hullo Atuldom
“Lakshmi” (1982) which was directed by B. S. Thapa; produced by Raja Desai & Raja Roy.
The story was revolving around Reena Roy’s character -Lakshmi; Raj Babbar played her husband Vijay Singh & son Ajay Singh. Ranjeet played a pimp who has a change of heart & emotion when Lakshmi addresses him as ‘Bhaiyya’ & pleads him to help her keep herself ‘GANGA KI TARAH PAVITRA’ inspite of being a courtesan. Nadira played the owner of the ‘Kotha’ where Lakshmi takes refuge in her bid to escape goons. She also has a change of thinking & heart when she sees Ranjeet standing up for Lakshmi when Kadar Khan (in a guest appearance)-playing a daku- tries to molest her. Nadira eventually takes sanyaas but not before seeing Lakshmi give birth to her daughter (she was pregnant with her second child when she had landed at the kotha)

Today (13 October 2023) we pay our tributes to the ‘versatile genius’ Kishore Kumar (04.08.1929 – 13.10.1987) on his thirty-sixth ‘Remembrance Anniversary’.
Much has already been written about Kishore Kumar in the media and on this blog too. So I am not going to repeat the same today. But I would like to mention that Kishore Kumar will be discussed till HFM exists on this planet. Much will be written about him till the HFM exists on this planet. People of future generations will keep coming across his songs and his biography and his acting and musical skills and his writing skills and his directing skills and … we can go on adding about this multifaceted personality, and a simple yet sometimes eccentric human being.One needs to into depth into his life to understand Kishore Kumar fully. So people will keep discoving facts about him.

“Saajan ki Saheli” (1980) was a film that was produced & directed by Saawan Kumar Tak (9th August 1936- 25th August 2022). The songs were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri (1st October 1919- 25th May 2000) & Saawan Kumar Tak. Usha Khanna (d.o.b. 7th October 1941) was the music director. Asha Bhonsle, Sulakshana Pandit, Mohd Rafi, Mahendra Kapoor, Suresh Wadkar & Usha Khanna (herself) were the playback singers.

The search for songs of Mukesh continues as we close in on his last set of remaining songs that are yet unpublished on the blog. With the current count (prior to this post) at 818, there still is a good number of songs to be tracked and brought on board. The revised and updated Mukesh Geet Kosh (compiled by Shri Harish Raguvanshi of Surat) which was released in November of 2020, puts the number of Hindi songs identified at 980. Today’s song is from the movie ‘Bandish’ from 1969.
I was not aware of this song till 2018 when I took up to present a write-up on singer Jaspal Singh for the song “Jin Khoja Tin Paayian Gehre Paani Paith” from the movie ‘Paayal Ki Jhankaar’ (1980) which was posted on the blog on 02.04.2018. This article is a part of the series I am presenting on the ‘special voices of the seventies’ and Jaspal Singh is one of those voices. Hullo Atuldom
“Logon Ki Zubaan Par Apna Naam Hai Pehla” – this post of mine spoke of how I made it to the Gangout of like-minded HFM lovers who also go by the name ‘Atulites’ of ‘Atuldom’. How Sudhir ji set the ball rolling in the beginning of May and after numerous back-n-forth messages (at that time I was not a party to the discussions) June 2nd was fixed as the date for the Gangout. I was happy that I could attend the Gangout & be a part of the enthusiastic group that is highly knowledgeable about all things related to music – not necessarily only Hindi Films, especially finding new information & saving it up for posterity.
