Here is yet another song that I had never heard before. And when I heard it, I was amazed how such songs should have been lost to the fans of bollywood music fans. Now thanks to internet and services like youtube, many such songs are coming to the notice of fans once again.
The song is an archtypical “Chaayageet ” kind of song, perfect to listen to at night after 10 PM. Rafi and Asha Bhonsle sing this song. The song is pure magic, once you get used to it. Understated music by O P Nayyar and lyrics by Anjaan add to the listening pleasure.
And what about the picturisation. It is a dream come true duo of Dev Anand and Madhubala on the screen who sing this song. And this is one song where the two sing this song on telephone. That calls for a new catgory of tags in this blog viz “Phone” songs.
So here it is a forgotten song that is so unforgettable once you listen to it.

Beautiful song! Yes, I also remembered, just like Sujayita, the classic “Jalte hain jiske liye …”, which is also a phone song.

Have heard of the movie Jaali Note but not seen it.

The writer is Majrooh…by mistake you have written Anjaan…

To the best of my knowledge, lyrics of this movie were written by Anjaan and Raja mehdi Ali Khan. Majrooh Sultanpuri did not write any lyrics in this movie, if I rmember correctly.

Yes, the lyricist is RMAK. The CD version of this song goes “Raat Sard Sard Hai” has has two different stanzas!

Another song from 60s, “Hai Duniya Usi Ki” from Kashmir Ki Kali (1964) has beautiful Saxophone interlude. Who played it on screen?
