In old Bollywood movies, main characters, whatever be their economic status, used to live in huge palatial homes.
Look at this song from “Kasme Vaade”. Here Amitabh Bachchan, a college professor lives in a palatial residence in such opulence that would given the Nizam of Hyderabad a complex.
And only three people live in this palace and one cannot see a single domestic help anywhere.
Amitabh Bachchan and Randhir Kapoor are brothers and Rakhi is live in mate of Amitabh Bachchan, which is a clear give way that the story line is lifted from some western movie.
In this song, real life father and son (Kishore Kumar and Amit Kumar) sing for reel life brothers. Asha Bhonsle sings for Rakhi. Gulshan Baawra wrote the song. R D Burman composed the music.
This is a very nice song to listen to, and it was very popular during its days. This song in fact finished number 2 in the Binaca geetmala finals of 1979.

Atul, a small correction required in the last stanza:
Instead of “bhoole se bhi ham aaye na wahaan pyaar hai jahaan,
zindagi” I think it should be “bhoole se bhi gam aaye na wahaan pyaar hai jahaan, bandagi”. 🙂
