I never knew that there was a movie called “Sheikh Chilli” (1956). This B grade movie starred Bhagwan, Mahipal and Shyama. This movie may not have done anything spectacular at the box office otherwise I would have surely heard about this movie.
What about its music ? Its music director was Vinod and the lyricist was Pt Indra, two persons who were relics from 1940s. At least that is what I thought till I heard this song. The very first time I listened to this song, I was floored. This voice is different, and a refreshing change from the usual voices. It is the voice of Sudha Malhotra. I am not familair with the lady who lip syncs ( I think) in this song.Mahipal and Shyama are present in the picturisation, but only as spectators.
It is a superb song. A forgotten gem really. I hope that this post of mine will bring this song to the notice of all music lovers.
