I have posted a few songs from “Ziddi” (1964) already. This was a Shammi Kapoor type movie ( Joy Mukherji and Asha Parekh starred in it). One major difference in this movie from other Shammi Kapoor type movie was that the music director was S D Burman in this movie.

“Insaaniyat” (1955) was one movie which brought Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand together. Bina Rai and Vijaylaxmi were also there in this movie.

Here is a lovely song from “Daastaan” (1950). It is a piano song.It is sung by Suraiyya and it is picturised on her as well.

“Dada” (1978) was a B grade movie which was a remake of a 1960s C grade movie called “Faisla”.

Here is another movie of 1970s whose title is same as that of a movie of 1950s. the movie is called “Aakhri Daao”. Today, it is the older movie of this name whose songs are better known than the newer movie.

“Pocketmaar” was a movie of 1957 starring Dev Anand. Another movie of the same name was made in 1974 which had Dharmendra in lead role.

When I was young, I preferred the music of new movies rather than old movies, and it always annoyed me that there were several movies released in 1970s which had the same names as movies of earlier decades. Thus we had movies like “Andaaz”, “Anpadh”,”Parvarish” etc released in 1970s which had same names as movies of 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. On Vividh Bharati, when I heard the name of these movies , I half expected to hear a song from the newer movie, but I invariably got to hera a song from the older movie.
