“Dilruba” (1950) has some awesome songs in it. In fact I have discussed as many as five songs from this movie. In fact I was so impressed with one song ( Dhak dhak karti chali jeewan ki rail re )of this movie that I had posted that as the 2000th song of this blog.
Unfortunately, very little is known about the lyricists of the individual songs of this movie. It is known that there were as many as five lyricists in this movie viz. D N Madhok, P L Santoshi, Rajindra Krishan, Neelkanth Tiwari and Butaram Sharma, but individual breakup of the songs among these lyricists is not known- at least to me. I request my knowledgeable readers to share this information with less knowledgeable people like us.
Here is a song from “Dilruba”(1950). It is sung by Shamshad Begam, Pramodini Patkar and Mukesh,G M Durrani Mukesh. As mentioned above, lyricist of this song is not known. Music director is Gyan Dutt.
PS- As informed by Sudhir, lyricist for this song is S H Bihari. Thanks a lot for the detailed information about the lyricists of this movie, Sudhir.

Lyrics
hato hato ji aati hain ham jaadoogarni chhoriyaan
raste chalte aankhon se ham kartin dil ki choriyaan
hato hato ji aati hain ham jaadoogarni chhoriyaan
raste chalte aankhon se ham kartin dil ki choriyaan
dekh ke mera kalla challa
mache shahar mein halla
hoy

ghoor ghoor ke dekhe chhaila
jaise baadgad billa
hoy jaise baadgad billa
lachcho
ujda mera haay mohalla
main bhi bana nithalla
ujda mera haay mohalla
main bhi bana nithalla
o ji chaila sambhal ke rahiyo
padaa hai hamse palla
o ji chaila sambhal ke rahiyo
padaa hai hamse palla
haay ri lachcho
tujhe khilaaun garmaa garam kachaudiyaan
arre
haay ri lachcho
haay ri lachcho
tujhe khilaaun garmaa garam kachaudiyaan
raste chalte aankhon se ham kartin dil ki choriyaan
raste chalte aankhon se ham kartin dil ki choriyaan
hato hato ji aati hain ham jaadoogarni chhoriyaan
raste chalte aankhon se ham kartin dil ki choriyaan
ho ho ho ho
duniyaawaale
duniyaawaale
gud gud pyaase
maare bole boli
duniyaawaale

gori tore naina maare goli
koi bole
gori tore naina maare goli

gin gin taare kaatoon saari ratiyaan
bahut taqleef hai huzoor ko
lekin mera saajan gumsum
kare na mose batiyaan
lekin mera saajan gumsum
kare na mose batiyaan

Atul ji,
As part of a back and forth communication with Harish Raghuvanshi ji, to confirm info about songs by Mukesh, we also discussed this song today.
Harish ji has clearly confirmed that the singing voices in this song are Geeta Roy, Pramodini Desai and Mukesh. I notice that the link above is not working. However I listened to this song again from my own collection. The male voice is certainly that of Mukesh.
Please make the correction.

Aul ji,
More details on Lyricists for this movie – once again with reference to the original HMV label. However, the info on the label also is not complete.
This song is penned by SH Behari (Shamsul Huda Behari).
For the rest of the songs, the name of associated lyricists is incomplete. In all, 6 lyricists are listed, viz. SH Behari, DN Madhok (Deena Nath Madhok), PL Santoshi (Pyaare Lal Santoshi), Rajindra Krishan, Neelkanth Tiwari and Butaram Sharma.
There is a total of 11 songs. Unfortunately, lyricist for 5 songs including the song “Dhak dhak karti chali jeewan ki rail re”, are not specified.
1. Dhak dhak karti chali jeewan ki rail re
2. Chiraiyaa udi jaaye re
3. Dil mein kisi ka pyaar basaa le – Rajendra Krishan
4. Dekho ji mora bhola sa jiyaa
5. Tarsaa ke na jaa, tadpaa ke na jaa
6. Tum dil mein chale aate ho – Neelkanth Tiwari
7. Hato hato ji aati hain ham – SH Behari
8. Hum ne khai hai mohabbat mein – SH Behari
jawaani ki kasam
9. O preet bhulaane waale bataa
10. Dil tootna thha – Butaram Sharma
11. Morey nainon mein morey man mein – Rajendra Krishan
No song is specifically attributed to DN Madhok or PL Santoshi, although both are listed as lyricists in the label and movie credits.
