Loris, or lullabies, have always had a special place in Indian life, and many of these are sung by mothers and grandmothers as they rock the baby to sleep in the old fashioned cradle formed by hanging a long piece of cloth from a hook in the ceiling or in a regular cradle. Some loris have also been sung by men, generally widowers, and these tend to be melancholy ones, but there are some exceptions. In Carnatic music, the raga Neelambari is the one used to induce sleep and most lullabies in the South are sung in this raga.

Aaj sochaa to aansoo bhar aaye

“Hanste Zakhm” (1973) was, not surprisingly (in hindsight) , a commercial disaster. Chetan Anand, the maker of this movie, was so enamoured of Priya Rajwansh that she was the heroine of all his movies, despite her wooden face. No doubt she tried hard, as did others, to perform to the best of their abilities, but this movie had other weak points viz confused storyline, etc.

“Aagosh” (1953) is a movie that is well represented in this blog despite the obscure nature of this movie.This movie had Nasir Khan, Nutan, Agha, Shakila etc in this movie.

“Aage Badho” (1947) is a forgotten movie from the past. It had Dev Anand, Khursheed,Vasant Thengdi and Kusum Deshpande in lead roles. Chances are, other names were the lead actors and Dev Anand, then a new comer could be a lesser actor in this movie.

I have come across a forgotten movie from the past. The movie is called “Parbat Pe Apna Deraa”(1944). This movie was made by V Shantaram and it had Ulhas and Vanmala in lead roles.

My readers may have noticed that I have been discussing lots of songs written by Indeewar these days. My readers (if they are interested in cricket) may also know that world cup cricket is also being played these days. so, to borrow a term from cricket, Raja ( a fellow cricket enthusiast) has also noticed that I am giving Indeewar much of the strike. Nazar mein bijli adaa mein sholey

After a long time, here is another song of the much loved genre- viz a Rafi -Shammi Kapoor song. This song is from “Prince” (1969) which is one of the last Shammi Kapoor style movies after which the days of Shammi Kapoor movies was over. It was good while lasted.And these movies continue to enthrall the movie watchers even today.
