I had discussed a song from the obscure movie called “Preet” (1945). According to the little information available about this movie, it was directed by Ram Daryani and it had Chandramohan, Nazir , Snehprabha , Swarnalata , Pahari Sanyal, Gope , Gulab etc in it.

“Moorti” (1945) is a movie produced by Ranjit Movietone and directed by Chaturbhuj Doshi. The movie had Motilal, Khursheed, Padma Banerjee, Yashwant Dube, Kamal Jamindar, Kaneez, Tara Bai etc. in it.

When the movie is called “Afsaana”, one expects to see the famous movie starring Ashok Kumar. This movie is called Afsaana, and Ashok Kumar is in it, but it is not that famous movie of 1951, which was the original movie that had identical twin brothers as well as “separated in the mela” relatives. 🙂 This “Afsaana” in contrast is a movie of recent vintage and it hardly troubled the box office much. Apart from Ashok Kumar figuring in both movies, “Afsaana” (1951) and “Afsaana” (1966) have little in common.

“Pyaar ki Manzil” (1950), a by now obscure movie, was produced by a production house with a fancy name, viz. “Super Team Federal” ! This movie was directed by Keky Mistry. The movie had Rehman, Munawwar Sultana, Pratima Devi, Kamal, Gope, Ramesh Sinha, Sita Bose, Jankidas, Niranjan Sharma etc.

I was under the impression that the first time that we heard the reference to naagan (female cobra) and sapera (snake charmer) in Hindi movies was “Naagin” (1954). But it turns our that there was a song in “Kaun Hamara” (1947) where the song talks (figuratively) of the cobra of love biting a lady and she seeks (figurative or may be emotional) treatment from her beloved.
