“Bluffmaster” (1963) was produced by Subhash Desai and directed by Manmohan Desai. It had Shammi Kapoor, Saira Bano, Lalita Pawar, Niranjan Sharma, Pran, Mohan Choti, Laxmi Chhaya, TunTun, Rashid Khan, Shyam Lal, Charlie Walker, Jugal Kishore, Anand Joshi, Santhosh Kumar etc in it.
A Shammi Kapoor movie of those days typically had music by Shankar Jaikishan and lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri/ Shailendra. But this was not always the case. This movie, like the maiden venture of Manmohan Desai, viz. “Chhalia” (1960), had music by Kalyanji Anandji.
Here is a song from “Bluff Master” (1963). This song is sung by Lata. It is picturised as a get together song. The song is lip synced by Saira Bano. Shammi Kapoor, Pran etc. also figure in the picturisation.
Lyricist of this song is Rajinder Krishan.

How can I ever forget ‘Bluff Master’?! My friends and I were schoolkids in Bombay those days. And our favourite hero was Shammi Kapoor! We never missed a single movie starring this tall, handsome, huge ‘caveman’. Normally we never gave a second look at the poor heroine of his movies but in ‘Bluff Master’ we had gone totally ‘lattoo’ over Saira Banu! What a slim, drop dead gorgeous heroine she was!
Some of Shammi’s movies had music by O P Nayyar too. Who can forget the music in ‘Hum Sab Chor Hai’, ‘Tumsa Nahin Dekha’, ‘Basant’ and ‘Kashmir ki Kali’?
I can also think of two Shammi movies where Ravi gave superb music. One was ‘Pyar Kiya tho Darna Kya’ and the other was of course ‘China Town’ with that beautiful ‘Bar Bar Dekho, Hazaar Bar Dekho..”
Aaah! Those golden days of our ‘bachpan’…………..
