“Mr Natwarlal”(1979) was produced by Tony Glaad and directed by Rakesh Kumar. The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Amjad Khan, Ajit, Kader Khan, Rajni Sharma, Indrani Mukherji, Satyen Kappu, Ifthikar, Yunus Parwez, Rekha Chauhan, Moolchand, Goga, Shrivastav, Wali Khan, Gyandev Agnihotri, Master Laddu, Master Bittu, Master Ravi, with special appearances by Viru Devgan and Hiralal.

Five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth and final song from the movie. This song is the first song of the movie. Villagers of the remote village of Chandanpur are being tormented by Amjad Khan and his goons. So in the time tested way of Hindi movies, where singing a song serves as a panacea to all the problems -the villagers resort to singing this song.

This song is sung by Rafi (lip synced by Kader Khan), Anuradha Paudwal (lip synced by Rekha) and chorus (lip synced by the other villagers). While this remonstrating with the Almighty is going on, we find Amitabh Bachchan getting down from a truck. He has to go to Chandanpur and the driver tells him that he would be able to reach Chandanpur after walking for 24 hours.

If you are observant (like I am ), you will find that Amitabh Bachchan reaches Chandanpur in four minutes just as the song ends. ! The movie makers themselves had forgotten the dialogue uttered by the truck driver during the beginning of the song. 🙂

The video of the song is some three minutes long. The audio is twice as long and it contains stanzas not available in the picturised version. In fact the audio version sounds almost like a different song from the picturised version.

Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Rajesh Roshan.

With this song, the sixth from the movie, “Mr Natwarlal”(1979) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.
