We observe that two movies (out of eight) whose songs were covered on this date ten years ago (on 19 april 2013) have since been YIPPEED in the blog. So we have six unYIPPEED movies that are eligible for Blog Ten Year Challenge today (19 April 2023).
That date ten years ago happened to be Ramnavami. On that occasion, a couple of Lord Ram related songs were covered from Lord Ram related movies.
“Bharat Milaap”(1942) was one such movie. This movie y Vijay Bhatt for Prakash Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Durga Khote(as Kaikeyee),Shobhna Samarth(as Sita),Shahu Modak (as Bharat), Prem Adib (as Sri Ram), Vimla Vashisth(as Manthara), Umakant Desai(as Lakshman), Nimbalkar(as Dashrath), Shantabai Kothare(as Kaushalya), Pande(as Vashistha), Ratnamala (as Madavi-Rajkumar Bharat`s Wife), Amirbai Karnataki(as Kewat Patni), Kelkar(as Sumanthra), Vasant Kaanse(as Nishadh Raj), Kaushalya (as Rajkavi`s daughter), Madhusudan(as Rajkavi`s son), Chiman Seth(as Shatrughna), Indumati Pathak(as Shrutikeerthi), Premkumari(as Urmila-Lakshman`s wife), Athavale(as Raj jyothishi),Gadadhar Sharma(Rajkavi), Sukumar(as Kewat), Rammurthy (as Saarathi), Anusuya Bai Jadhav(as Sumitra), Seetharam, Teekaram etc in it.
The song takes place when Lord Ram (Prem adib), along with Sita (Shobhana Samarth)and Laxman (Shahu Modak) have started their vanwas. While proceeding south, they come across River Ganga and they need to cross the mighty river. It is here that they meet the Kevat(boatman) and his wife. This song takes place at that time. The song is lip synced by the Kevat (played by Sukumar) and his wife (played by Amirbai Karnataki). The song is sung by an unidentified male voice and Amirbai Karnataki. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the male voice. Is it sung by the male actor himself like how the female character, the one and only Amirbai Karnataki has sung for herself ?
