Mukesh and his Actors – 11

Mukesh sang one of his most iconic and quintessential sad songs in the film Aabroo (1968). The film was from the production house of Rawal Films.

Its director was C. L. Rawal, writer and lyricist was G. L. Rawal and producer B. L. Rawal.

It was the debut film of actor Deepak Kumar and the most famous song from the film; Mukesh’s solo was picturized on Deepak Kumar. While preparing this post, I learnt that Deepak Kumar was the son of C. L Rawal.

Thus, the film had plenty of Rawals. But despite such a grand debut, actor Deepak Kumar’s career never took off, and he was resigned to some rather lesser-known films.

The other films in which he acted were Ladki Pasand Hai (1971), Khoj (1971), Swami (1977) etc.

I could not even find a decent career-bio on him and would request knowledge readers to add more. All I could trace was this incomplete information.

Coming to today’s post on Mukesh’s songs featured on Deepak Kumar, there are 3 songs in two films. Two are already covered on the blog and the third and last features in this post.

S. NoName of the songMovie (Year of release)Co-singer(if any)
1Jinhen ham bhoolnaa chaahenAabroo (1968)
2Agar tuh aabroo apni bacha leti tohLadki Pasand Hai (1971)
3Tu kar de nazar se mastanaLadki Pasand Hai (1971)Hemlata

All the above 3 songs are incidentally written by G. L Rawal and composed by Sonik-Omi. Hence their exclusion from the table.

Today’s song is Mukesh’s duet with Hemlata from the film Ladki Pasand Hai (1971) and Deepak Kumar sings it with Mumtaz on the screen.

With this song, there is an interesting co-incidence. All songs that Mukesh sang for Deepak Kumar, with Hemlata and for Sonik Omi have been covered on the blog.

In my previous post on Mukesh’s duets with Hemlata, I had not provided the link to their song from the unreleased film Baapu ka Sapna. It is being provided here.

I had begun my last post with a request and conclude this post with the same.

Any information on the “unavailable so-far” Mukesh-Hemlata duet from Bheema Mera Haathi (1973) “Hazar Dil Mein Hon Tho Aise Niklen Woh Armaan” will be much appreciated.

Lyrics

tu kar de nazar se mastaana
tu kar de nazar se mastaana
mai cheez hai kya maikhaana kya
tu ek nazar se dekh to le
phir jeena kya mar jaana kya

tu kar de nazar se mastaana

ye kaisee jawaanee aayee hai
dekhe to qayaamat jhuk jaaye
ye kaisee jawaanee aayee hai
dekhe to qayaamat jhuk jaaye
tu hai main hoon tanhaayee hai
ab waqt se keh do ruk jaaye
ab waqt se keh do ruk jaaye

ye hosh kee saaree baaten hain
ye hosh kee saaree baaten hain
samjhega ye deewaana kya
tu ek nazar se dekh to le
phir jeena kya mar jaana kya

tu kar de nazar se mastaana

palkon mein chhupa ke tujhko sajan
kho jaaoon chaand sitaaron mein
palkon mein chhupa ke tujhko sajan
kho jaaoon chaand sitaaron mein

tere hee liye gulshan-gulshan
khilte hain phool bahaaron mein
khilte hain phool bahaaron mein
jab saathhee tujhsa mil jaaye
jab saathhee tujhsa mil jaaye
phir gulshan kya veeraana kya
tu ek nazar se dekh to le
phir jeena kya mar jaana kya
tu kar de nazar se mastaana
mai cheez hai kya maikhaana kya
