Today’s song is from a Comedy film – Badhati ka naam Dadhi-1974.The film was produced and directed by Kishore Kumar, for his own banner “Kishore films, Bombay “. The Music Director was Kishore kumar. The story writer, Screenplay writer, Dialogue writer, Lyricist and the lead Actor was also Kishore Kumar. Besides him, the cast included I.S.Johar, Master Bhagwan, Maruti, Sunder, Amit khanna, K.N.Singh, Debutante Bhappi Lahiri, Special appearance by Bindu, Anwar Hussain and several artistes with single word names- Ashu, Leena,Jenny, Milli, Effie, Katy, Kavita, Ellis, Bulbul,Mona, Chintu and few others.

“Dharm Patni-1953” was directed by Ramchandra Thakur for ‘Harishchandra Pictures’. It was produced by Harishchandra Rao and it was passed by Censor Board on 21.11.1953. It has Nirupa Roy, Mahipal, Moti Sagar, Durga Khote, Yashodhara Katju, Neeroo, Mona, Kumar and Gope, Bhagwan Das, Dalpat, Eruch Tarapore, Hamid Majnu, Dewaskar, Maqbool, Deepak Naidu, Parvati Bai, Anwari, Vijaybala and R.S. Diwan. Actor Bhagwan made a guest appearance in this movie and was mentioned in the titles of the movie as ‘The Great Guest Artist’. Story & Dialogues of this movie was written by Dhananjay and Screenplay was written by Darshan. Editing of this movie was done by Baburao Barodkar. This movie has six songs which were written by Bharat Vyas (four songs) and Shewan Rizvi (two songs). Music for this movie as composed by Jamal Sen. The playback singers for this movie are Madhubala Zaveri, Asha Bhonsle, Mubarak Begam and Sulochana Kadam.

#the Decade of Fourties – 1941 – 1950 #
Regulars on the blog are well aware that I have been sharing songs sung by Sulochana Kadam for a long time. Our blog statistics page does not mention the total number of songs sung by her. I guess that the correct figure is yet to be confirmed. However we have so far covered more than one hundred songs sung by her. I have noted that coverage of her song has slowed down after her century of songs was reached in the blog.
I am on the look out for songs sung by her that are not yet covered on this blog. Today I came across this song which was for long considered as a lost song. However, a music lover has uploaded this song on internet. It is from the movie ‘Krishna Sudaama-1947’.

Today’s song is from a 90 year old film – Manmohan-1936.
The film was made by Sagar movietone and it was the 3rd Directorial film for Mehboob Khan. The music was by Ashok Ghosh, a very well known name in Bangla filmdom- who had a very enthusiastic and talented assistant- Anil Biswas. The cast of the film consisted of Miss Bibbo, Surendra (his 2nd film), Yaqub, Ashalata (real name Mehrunnisa, who later married Anil Biswas), Ram Marathe, Zia Sarhadi, Bhudo Advani and many others. Lyricist, dialogue writer and story writer was Zia Sarhadi who also did a small role in this film.
You will be surprised if I tell you that this film would not have been made if K L Saigal was not acting in films of New Theatres in Calcutta ! Strange, but true ! Let us see how….
