“Umang” (1970) was a movie which was made by students of Pune Fim Institute. All characters in the movie, except the oldtimers like Durga Khote etc were thus alumni of that institute.

This is a song one will love listening to. The picturisation, I think is quite eye catching. The picturisation shows two damsels in typically bright dresses which are supposedly the dresses worn in villages while going to the local river to fetch water and exchange gossip.

This is a song from a 1958 movie called “Khota Paisa”. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Rafi. If one listens to the song, it appears a quintessential O P Nayyar tune.

In Indian culture, a man coming hard on an an unwilling woman is looked down upon and it is called “teasing”. But if a woman does it to an unwilling man, it is called “seduction”. 😉 Of course, Bollywood movies regard both these activities as desirable and as such we have had many “teasing” as well as “seductive” songs in Bollywood movies.

If one listens to just the audio of this song, it sounds unmistakably like a song from a Shammi Kapoor movie. The song is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics is by Hasrat Jaipuri, music is by Shankar Jaikishan. It all seems to add up. The song even has Rafi shouting “Hurray” (reminiscent of “Yaahoo” in an earlier Shammi Kapoor movie)
