I have discussed as many as four songs from “Barsaat” (1949) in this blog, which is obviously not enough, seeing that (i) this movie had lots and lots of fantastic songs in it and that (ii) it was a pathbreaking movie in the annalas of Hindi movies.

Different people may have different ways of judging movies. I read an old joke in this connection some three decades ago. A Pathan from Afghanistan came to India and looked at a poster of a movie . He was very impressed with the title of the poster and he went to watch that movie. after THE END, he came out very frustrated and disappointed. He was asked the reason for his disappointment. “The poster promised that the movie had Chiraag Khan and Roshni Khan in it. I watched the entire movie , but I could not find either of the Khans in this movie.” The Pathan explained.
