Life is often likened to a journey in Hindi movie songs. This is one comparison that I find quite appropriate. In fact, many other activities during our lifetimes can also be likened to a journey. For instance, this blog is indeed much like a journey. I have often described it as a musical bandwagon that is going on and on, adding fellow passengers on the way and passing milestones after milestones.

Welcome all to the 5200th offering on this blog. An enchanting journey that continues to grow from strength to strength, has reached another landmark today. It seemed just like yesterday that we hit the 5000 mark (it was on 13th November), and lo, we are already 200 songs even beyond that magic number today. Congratulations to all, and especially to Atul ji, for being the consistent driving force behind this effort. Besides being the 5200th post, this write up also celebrates the century of songs on this blog, by the music director Hansraj Behl.

It has been mentioned by several readers that Dev Anand appeared almost immortal to them and it was inconceivable to them that he could ever die. But time and tide waits for none and everyone has to succumb some day. Dev Anand breathed his last on 3rd of december 2011 at the age of 88. He led an active life till the end. His zest for life and his youthful exuberance is something that is difficult to emulate for most people. With time , he had lost weight and had shrunk as was bound to happen, but his mental faculties continues to be sharp and he could still walk on his feet. Most people can only dream of such physical fitness if they ever live up to that age.

Every now and then, we lovers of this blog like to get together in this space and celebrate a milestone or landmark that this blog has achieved.
It may be a landmark to celebrate a particular artist’s hundredth (or even thousandth) song on this blog. Or it may be a landmark to celebrate yet another “century” on the blog song-count itself.
Recently, as we have now got multiple contributors to this blog, we have also celebrated “centuries” by contributors.
Each one of these milestones always gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Welcome all readers to another century celebration. With this post, this blog now has completed publication of 4900 songs, which is a remarkable feat by many standards. And this milestone is yet again marked with the consistency and continuity that has been unbroken for more than three years now. Much more than the number and the content of the posts, it is the perseverance and commitment to this effort, that are the outstanding qualities of maintaining the healthy pace of growth on this blog. And I present all kudos and praise to Atul ji, for spearheading this effort. A singular effort that is unparalleled in the cyber space. Heartfelt greetings to Atul ji and all readers of this blog, and best wishes and all my support in the cause of what this blog is attempting to accomplish.
