I tend to liken the journey of this blog to a train. But nowadays I find the comparison less appropriate because a train stops at intermediate stations for a while whereas we in this blog do not stop at any of the milestones and keep going along, though we may sometimes become somewhat slower than usual for various reasons. So that way, I find the comparison of this blog with a road journey somewhat more appropriate where one need not stop anywhere, and one can see milestones going past at high speed.

Seven thousand. And the mind says, Goodness, are we already there?
A fabulous pace and a fantastic record. The steady pace with which the team is pulling together is simply marvelous. And more than that, it is Atul ji’s single minded devotion to this endeavor. One can barely begin to imagine the amount of time and effort that he is relentlessly putting in, day in and day out. That is nothing less than fantastic.

This musical bandwagon continues to roll on unabated (touchwood !) and we continue to pass milestones at regular intervals.
Century of songs is the most basic and common kind of milestone for this song. In the earlier days of the blog, we just counted the number of songs posted in the day and every 100th song was a cause for celebration.

The relentless dedication of one man, and his companions on this musical bandwagon, is clearly evident from the consistent pace at which this blog is making progress by the day. A hundred songs are being consistently added every two weeks, give or take a couple of days. It is this consistency that is the most remarkable feature of this effort. The unflagging interest and the singular determination that is exhibited by the entire team, speaks volumes about the leadership and dedication of this one man.
And yes, we are celebrating another century of posts on this blog today.

Mahipal, a name that is so familiar as the actor behind the ‘Raaj Kavi Diwaakar’ in V Shantaram’s ‘Navrang’ (1959), as the healer Zabak in Basant Picture film ‘Zabak’ (1961), or the swashbuckling swordsman Paras in Movieland’s film ‘Parasmani’ (1963), and many more characters played by him in films with historical, mythological and religious themes. But not many people know that Mahipal Chandra Bhandari, a young lad of 23 from Jodhpur, made his debut in films both as an actor and a poet. His first film as an actor, ‘Nazraana’ (1942), a twin production in Hindi and Maarwari, turned out to be a flop, and it would not be for another 8 years, till 1950, that he would catch the attention of the industry and the audience alike, as a performer on the screen. But in the interim, his talent and his childhood interest is writing poetry, kept him busy writing lyrics for films like ‘Maali’ (1944) and ‘Aap Ki Sewa Mein’ (1947).

It is said that making people laugh is serious business. Just because some people who make others laugh does not mean that they are not capable of being serious. On the contrary, such people are capable of being serious and sensitive too.
