Recently, on my request a collector friend of mine sent me four Asha’s song from 1971 film ‘Ek Thi Reeta’. Out of eleven songs from that film five are already covered in this musical blog. One by one, I will try to submit (Hari Ichchha permitting) these four Asha’s songs for posting starting from today. After that we will be short of two songs, which I still do not have.

The unique thing that struck me was that Mukund Masurekar was not only the Director but also gave music for the film. Chaand Sitare, a 1948 social film was produced by Ravindra Art Productions, Mumbai and was directed by Ishwar Chandra Kapur. The star cast according to HFGK consisted of Jeevan, Manorama, Rajan Haksar, Niranjan Sharma, Anita, Satish, Leela etc. The film had eight songs composed by Premnath (not the actor/villain) and the lyricists for the film were IC Kapur and Aziz Kashmiri. HFGK is not vocal about who is the lyricist for the song under discussion.

The original HMV of EMI group was renamed RPG, when purchased by the Goenka Group. Later on in 2000, this major music producing company was aptly named as ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’. During earlier years, it used to sponsor great artists to produce many non-film music albums. Later on, under the false pretext of changing music trends, but mainly due to commercial angles, such publications along with classical music albums ware slowly reduced to very near zero.
