I have barely heard of this movie called “Ek Baar Muskura Do” (1972). this movie sank without a trace, and with that the aspirations of Debu Mukherji to become a Bollywood hero came to naught.

There are many songs that sound so nice once you listen to them. But all that effect is lost when one watches the picturisation, since the picturisation shows lack of imagination as well as lack of ability on the part of the movie makers. As a result, the movie, as well as the song is consigned to the dustbin of history.

Rajesh Khanna’s decline from his superstardom began in the second half of 1970s. During this period, he worked in a few movies which have been consigned to the dustbin of history. How many people, for instance recall this movie called “Bhola Bhala” ? Very few indeed.

While posting lullaby songs, once I had commented that these lullabies are mostly sung by female singers and lullabies sung by male singers are very rare.

This movie “Phaandebaaz” (1978) was rightly panned by the critics for being a hopeless movie, and so it proved. The movie failed at the box office and by now it is a forgotten movie.

Joy Mukherji, Debu Mukherji and Somu Mukherji were brothers and they were from a well connected family. Their father was Shashdhar Mukherji, a big name in Bollywood movie making. Their uncle (chacha) was Subodh Mukherji, the well known movie producer. From their mother’s side, they were connected to Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Anup Kumar, who were their mamas.

Dilip Kumar has mostly sung in the voice of Rafi, Talat Mahmood and Mukesh. But there is one movie where he sings in the voice of Kishore kumar as well. This movie is “Sagina”(1974) which came at the fag end of Dilip Kumar’s career as hero.
