Hindi movie music is enriched by a large number of artists. In many cases, these artists are known more by their work, rather than by their names. For instance, the name Sudhir Phadke may not ring many bells, especially with the younger generation, but just make them listen to songs like Din hai suhaana aaj pahli taarikh hai(Pahli taarikh) (1954) and Jyoti kalash chhalke(Bhaabhi ki choodiyaan)(1961).

These two immortal compositions are the creations of none other than Sudhir Phadke whose birth anniversary falls on 25 july.

“Prem Parbat” (1973) is a movie starring Hema Malini,Rehana sultaan, Nana Palsikar, Aghaa, Sanjana, Satish Kaul etc. The movie sank without a trace. And the video of this movie is apparently no longer available. So it is not possible to tell for sure what kind of a movie it was.

“Anita” (1967) is the third and last movie in the trilogy of mystery woman movie that Raj Khosla made, the other two movies of this series being Wo Kaun Thi and Mera Saaya. But while the other two movies proved to be box office successs, “Anita” (1967) failed to replicate that success.

What kinds of songs does one expect in a movie titled “Truck Driver” ? From the title, one would expect the movie to be a B grade movie and the songs to be of chaalu variety. As it turns out, the movie is indeed a B grade movie which I was not even aware of. This is a 1970 movie and it had Dev Kumar and Indrani Mukherji in lead roles.

“Sitaara” (1955) is an obscure movie starring Pradeep Kumar and Vyjyantimala, and also Begam Para,Helen etc. As is the case with most obscure movies, this movie too has some nice songs in it that deserve to be better known among music lovers.
