Zindagi ye zindagi

The movie is called “Daulat” and this song is an archtypical villain’s den song. Hero and heroine are in “disguise” of sorts and the lady keeps gesturing to the hero during her singing. I do not know how successful she is in communicating that way. The villain and his gangsters appear smarter than usual, and they have taken up positions as waiters in the club where this song is being sung.

I bet few people have heard about this movie called “Champakali” (1957). This movie had a hero on decline (Bharat Bhooshan) paired up with a very young Suchitra Sen, who would later become a legendary actress in Bangla movies.

“Prem Nagar” (1974) was a movie where the reigning male superstar and the biggest female star were brought together in the same movie for the first time. Perhaps the hype was too much, or may be the contents were not good enough. Whatever the reasons, this movie failed at the box office despite the presence of Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini.

“Saraswati Chandra” is not a movie that too many people remember now. This lead actors in this movie were Nutan and Manish (who ?) and it was a Black and white movie in an era when colour movies had become the vogue.

“Aarti” (1962) had some wonderful songs, and I am posting these songs now a days. This second song begins somewhat similarly to the other song. In the first song “Kahbhi to milegi”, Meena Kumari listens to a song on Radio, and then sings that song.

In Bollywood movies, majority of songs are romantic songs. One small portion of such songs is the “sulking” song, where one party, typically the female sulks and the other person has to appease the sulking person.
