I have discussed as many as four songs from “Adaalat” (1958) and I was surprised to receive the lyrics of this song from Prakashchandra. When I checked up, I found that this well known song from “Adaalat” (1958) was actually missing from the blog.

The film Bhool Na Jaanaa, is an unreleased film from the 1964-65 time frame. Started under the banner of Integrity International, by producer Jagan Prasad Sharma, its storyline was built around the Indo-China war of 1962. By the time this film was under production, the govt. of India refused permission for this film to be released. Apparently the relations with China were improving, and the govt. put a ban on films on this subject. (May be it was lucky for Chetan Anand that his film on the same subject, Haqeeqat, got released in 1964, and the ban probably came after that). Although in an advanced stage of completion, the production of this film was shelved.

“Namoona” (1949) is a movie that had Kishore Sahu, Kamini Kaushal, Dev Anand and Leela Chitnis in lead roles. In this movie, Kamini Kaushal’s father fixes her wedding with Kishore Sahu, though she is in love with Dev Anand. And as is the case in Hindi movies, he resorts to emotional blackmail to get her to marry the person of his choice. Dev Anand, who overhears their conversation, also concurs with the old man and advises Kamini Kaushal that they needed to sacrifice their love for the sake of practical considerations.

“Bela” (1947) is a by now obscure movie. This movie had actors like Nigar, Jairaj, S N Tripathi (same as the music director), Krishna Kumari,B R Sharma (same person who was a lyricist as well) etc in it. Others are rather unknown names for me.

Pujaarin (1936) is a social drama, produced by Internatonal Film Craft Production, and directed by Prafulla Ray. The acting credits for this movie include KL Saigal, Chandra, Pahadi Sanyal, KC Dey, Rajkumari, Nawab Babulal, Kailash, Jagdeesh, Kedar, Sham Laha. Saigal plays the role of Jeeband Chowdhuri, a young man whose occupation is to grab the assets of other people. He marries the daughter of a rich family, only for the purpose of getting a lot money as dowry.
