I have been posting the songs of “Anmol Ghadi” (1946) these days. It was pointed out to me that I had not posted arguably the most popular song of the movie, viz. “Aawaaz de tu kahaan hai”. Was it really so ? I checked up and found that I had posted two songs from this movie starting with “A” , but the song under discussion was not one of them. And I was actually under the impression that the song was already posted !

I have posted a few songs from “Anand” (1970). In this movie, every song, not just the better known ones, are gems. And that is only to be expected seeing that Salil Chaudhary is the music director of this movie.

Where was this song lying all these days ? I thought I knew all about Madan Mohan songs, considering that I have posted over 100 of his songs and I have heard nearly 300 of his songs (out of 700). But I was humbled to realise that I am still unaware about many of his gems.

There are very well known songs that remain well known to this day. Then there are songs that one may have listened to in distant past, never to be heard again. It is rather like Bollywood lost and found stories where family members get separated in childhood.

I can not recall this movie called “Suraj Aur Chandaa” (1973) which was released during by early teen years. But when I stumbled upon the songs of this movie recently, I realised that I had listened to these songs those days. In fact, a few of these songs were extremely popular and I enjoyed listening to them.

This song “ghareeb jaan ke na tum haman mita dena” from “Chhoomantar” (1956) is one song from this movie that is well known to me for the last thirty years. This song is one of those songs that I had noted down in my diary of 1970s in which I used to note down the songs that I liked those days.
