Yesterday Raja got me going on Geeta Dutt-Rafi duets after he sent me some statistics regarding Geeta Dutt songs in general and Geeta Dutt-Rafi duets in particular. According to those details, Geeta Dutt has sung most number of her songs for Chitragupta (about 100 songs). Also, Geeta Dutt has sung 155 duets with Rafi, and most number of these duets (30 numbers) are with Chitragupta, which may come as a surprise for music lovers, who may guess otherwise.

When I was growing up as a kid in 1970s, I was a very enthusiastic cricket statistician. By going through various resources, I had painstakingly collected details about all the test matches that were ever played till then. Maintaining those records is no longer necessary for cricket lovers now that we are in the era of internet and comprehensive cricket related statistics are available online.

Ek mahal ho sapnon ka

Though “Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka” (1975) is a recent movie by the standards of this blog, this movie is not all that well known today. Perhaps a TV serial of the same name has hijacked the title and that has pushed the information about the movie of 1975 back.

There have been two Hindi movies called “Shama” and there are many people including “experts” who get mixed up in this confusion. There movies were “Shama” (1946) and “Shama” (1961). The confusion is compounded by the fact that the music directors of these movies were Ghulam Haider and Ghulam Mohammad respectively and there are people who think that the two were the same person. In fact I once watched a podcast about old songs where the podcaster very knowledgeably told the audience that Ghulam Haider, who composed the music of “Shaheed” (1948) later composed the music of “Pakeezah” (1972).
