“Adalat” (1958) was a movie starring Pradeep Kumar and Nargis. Quite an add couple, and the movie apparently failed at the box office. But what music this movie had ! Almost all the songs of this movie must be regarded as timeless classics.

“Jee Chaahta Hai” (1964) is a movie starring Joy Mukherji, Rashree, Shyama, Rajendranath, Nazir Hussain,Jeewan etc. I have not seen the movie so I often try to guess the story of the movie from the picturisation of the song, and my conclusions thus drawn about the movie are often quite off the mark. 😀

“Mastaanaa” (1954) is a movie starring Motilal and Nigar Sultana, who were mainly big name actors of 1940s but who continued to act in 1950s too.

From the picturisation of this song, I guess that Motilal and Nigar Sultana play roadside toy sellers and they have a kid (Master Romi).

“Ek Saal” (1957) is a movie starring Ashok Kumar and Madhubala. This song has some nice songs in it as was usually the case with most movies, and more so with movies that had music composed by Ravi. I have already discussed four great songs fro this movie including the all time classic Sab kuchh luta ke hosh mein aaye to kyaa kiyaa.

Other actors of this movie were Nishi, K.N.Singh, Maruti, Tuntun, Abhi Bhattacharya, Mumtaz,Jankidass, Munshi Munaqqa, Rajan Kapoor etc. This movie was directed by Hari Walia.

Thanks to the invaluable informations provided by the readers through their comments, farmaishes, lyrics, e mails etc, I learn new things almost on a daily basis.

I was aware of movies called ” Jawaab” that were released in 1942 and 1970, but it turns out that there was another movie with this title that was released in 1955. This movie, viz. “Jawaab” (1955) had Nasir Khan,Geeta Bali ,,Balraj Sahni ,Johnny Walker, Mukri ,Achala Sachdev, Master Romi ,Tun Tun (Uma Devi) etc. Despite such impressive starcast, this movie apparently ended up as an obscure movie, so obscure in fact that few people seem to be aware of this movie.
