Today 4th January is the ninety eighth birth anniversary of Poet-Lyricist Gopaldas Saxena whom we know mononymously by the name of ‘Neeraj’.
He was born on 04th January’1925 and passed away on 19th July’2018.
On the occasion of his birth anniversary today as a tribute to him, I am presenting a song from the ‘1974’ movie ‘Aashiaana’.

“Trunk Call”(1960) was produced by Kanwal Nayyar and T C Dewan and directed by Balraj Mehta for MayFair films, Bombay. The movie, a “stunt” movie had Shyama, Abhi aka Abhi Bhattacharya, Pran, Shammi, Randhir, Helen, Uma, Rajan Haksar, Keshov, Dolly, Nazir Kashmeri, Henry, Chander Kumar, K.L.Kapoor, Darshan etc in it.

What is going on today? I am sure this question is worrying the minds of quite a few if not many or all regulars of this blog. Atul ji seems to be in a big hurry today. Seven posts already since his first good morning call at 5 am. Aha, so getting to the century number it seems. Yeah, ok, that’s it, he wants to complete the century, and make the century post today. But why? What is the tearing need? Is there a birthday not known to anybody? Is it a special day for someone on the bandwagon or in the industry? The anniversary page has no listing for today. ये क्या हो रहा है? क्या चल रहा है?

Today’s song is a rare song from an obscure film – Jeevan Natak-1935.
During the silent film era, there was no sound in the film and hence no dialogues. This was compensated by showing dialogue strips on the screen. Initially scenes and the dialogue srips were shown alternatively i.e. after the actor says something, the next scene was only his dialogue srip. Later on ,however, simultaneously showing of the dialogue strip started. In any case this prevented continuation of the story and importance of the dialogue. This also made the filmmakers make silent films action oriented, rather than using dialogues. 90 % silent films were action/stunt films or costume films.

Today’s song is from the ‘1971’ movie ‘Bahke Kadam’.
This movie made its debut on the blog on 07.10.2015 when one of its songs was posted on the blog.
While presenting the first song from this movie, I had mentioned that one other song from this movie was available on YouTube. I had also mentioned that this movie seemed to be an obscure movie of its time.
When I was looking for a song sung by Manna Dey from this movie I discovered that the audio of the remaining two songs have also become available on YouTube now. But, the video of this movie or its songs still seems to be unavailable.

Today’s song is from a “special” film Mujrim Kaun-1966.
I call this a special film, because of an interesting reason. The reason is that this is one of those rare films, where most of the actors, Director, music Director, all 3 lyricists, singers, producer, the banner, the screenplay writer, the dialogue writer and even the financer were all “ONE TIME” members. They had no previous experience earlier and after this film, they did not work in any other film.
