For many movie watchers, Meena Kumari and Raj Kumar epitomise tragedy roles. And if they are there together in a movie, then one may be justified in fearing the worst, viz ‘Kaajal” (1965). But fortunately, they did not start their careers with such roles, and they can be seen playing happier roles even together. “Ardhaangini” (1958) is one such movie where they were together playing happier roles.

I have posted over 100 songs composed by Madan Mohan in this blog. It means that over 10 % of all Madan Mohan songs have been included in this blog. I hope that a time will come when almost all songs of Madan Mohan will be available here. In fact I hope that some day almost all the songs of all the great music directors will be available here.

I have recently discovered a movie called “Jawaani Ki Hawaa” (1959). This by now forgotten movie had music by Ravi.

“Jawaani Ki Hawaa” (1959) is quite an obscure movie. It was an All India pictures production and it was directed by M Sadiq. The movie had Pradeep Kumar, Vaijayantimala, Raj Mehra, Purnima, Badri Prasad,Shammi, Anil Kumar, Anwar, Amar, Helen, Johnny Walker etc in it.

Love songs in Bollywood movies have often used “Chaand” to good effect. In such songs, “Chaand” symbolised beauty, what with female face being compared with “Chaand” (moon) and chaandni (moonlight) being used as a romantic backdrop for some memorable songs.
