Of late I have discussed quite a few “stage performace” songs of Hindi movies. These movies typically have the lead actress of the movie performing a dance in an auditorium which is invariably sold out. Secondly, the hero of the movie is invariably among the audience. He in fact is in the front row of the audience. To this day I have not been able to find out how the hero manages to get tickts/pass for the front row of such performance even though he is does not play a politician/ administrator/ VIP who normally get to occupy front row on such occasions. I have in fact seen Amitabh Bachchan getting a front row seat for Nirupa Roy and Mukri getting front row seats for himself and his six burqa clad daughters in a song of “Amar Akbar Anthoni”. No, neither Amitabh Bachchan not Mukri are top administrators/ politicians of the town, but they still occupy the front row. 🙂 VIP culture is conspicuous by its absence in such picturisations. 🙂

Whenever I came across some interesting songs/links during my searches, I copy them and save them in my ‘draft folder’, so that it can be taken up and shared whenever suitable.
The link for this –today’s song- was saved by me in August’2013 and it was lying there since then.

For music lovers of radio era, wednesday night used to be the most important night of the week. 🙂 It was on wednesday nights that all music lovers would tune to Radio Ceylon (later Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation) from 8 P M to 9 P M. Listening to the magical voice of Amin Sayani telling us about the songs in the various “paaydaan” used to be a divine experience. It was not a good idea for visitors to arrive at the households of music lovers at those hours on wednesdays. 🙂

Today (6 march 2015) is Holi, the festival of colours. This is the seventh holi for this blog. And for those who are into cricket, today team BCCI plays West Indies in a world cup cricket match. Incidentally, these same two teams had also played their match on the day of Holi in 2011 during the last world cup.

For people who grew up in the satellite TV era viz 1990s, the practice of naming the title of one’s production with the letter K began with Ekta Kapoor. But for people of my generation, who grew up three decades ago, it was Arjun Hingorani, who pioneered such usage of the letter K way back in 1970s when Ekta Kapoor was not even born ! Moreover, Arjun Hingorani’s movies would have three words and each word would begin with the letter K ! Sample the titles of his movies:- ”Kab Kyun aur Kahaan” (1970), “Kahaani Kismat Ki” (1973), “Khel Khilaadi Ka” (1977), “Kaatilon Ke Kaatil”(1981) and “Kaun Kare Kurbaani” (1991).

“Kachche Dhaage”(1973) was a Daaku movie produced and directed by Raj Khosla. His previous movie too was a Daaku drama, namely “Mera Gaaon Mera Desh”(1971). Attempt was made to retain the team of “Mera Gaaon Mera Desh” but with some changes. Dharmendra and Asha Parekh were replaced by Kabir Bedi and Mausami Chatterji. Laxmi Chhaaya, the scene stealer in “Mera Gaaon Mera Desh” (1973) was missing too.
