When someone talks about “Black Cat”, one thinks of the well armed special protection group commandoes who protect VVIPs of India. But long ago in more laidback days, black cat only meant what it literally means, viz ‘kaali billi”, the small domesticated cat which, if it crossed your way, was considered inauspicious (for you, not for the cat itself).

“Sujata” (1959) was a sad movie, from whatever little I have gathered about it. I have not been able to watch it ( I cannot stand sad movies) but its music is a different matter altogether. S D Burman created some immortal music in this movie.
