We have been discussing the statistics of Hindi movie songs over the years and we have so far reached upto 1934. As a result of this analysis and follow up action (in the form of posting the balance available songs from those years), we now have posted almost all available songs from 1931 to 1933, with just two songs each from 1932 and 1933 still left.

Yesterday (11 november 2015) was the festival of Deepaawali. Most people enter into the Deepaawali festive mood from three to four days in advance and the hangover of the festival lasts for some more days. I, being philosophical in my outlook try to treat all days as the same. But there are people around me who try to disturb my philosophical ways of living. 🙂

The first time I heard the name of the film ‘Prarthana’ (1943) was sometime in 2012 when I wrote a short write-up on Jahanara Kajjan, singer-actor of 30s and 40s, for the Blog with her song tumre darshan ka nainaa taras gaye re in Raag Gaud. Since then, the only additional information I could get about this film was that it was a social genre film. The film’s VCD/DVD is not available.
